Fredericksburg, Pennsylvania (October 29, 2018) – Loyal Bell & Evans customers, nicknamed “Belletarians” by Owner Scott Sechler, have been increasingly voicing words of praise for the family-owned producer for its commitments to transparency, superior animal welfare and premium quality products.
“I strive to eat only Bell & Evans chicken and find it at my local natural foods store,” says one Bell & Evans website user. “It really matters to me how animals are raised and treated. It takes a little effort to find the sources but it’s worth it.”
Recent accolades stem from Bell & Evans’ efforts to provide complete transparency into its operations. Earlier this month, Bell & Evans announced the launch of a series of virtual tours that take customers inside its breeder operations, world’s first organic certified and animal-welfare-focused chicken Hatchery, and its chicken farms. The significance of these virtual tours is that they represent 100% of Bell & Evans’ operation.
“There are obvious biosecurity reasons for why we can’t trek groups of people through our chicken houses and Hatchery,” said Sechler. “We invested in virtual tours because we know how much our customers value transparency.”
Bell & Evans stresses how its level of transparency far outweighs that of commodity producers.
“We raise 100% of our chickens to one very high set of standards, and we live by the 100% rule,” said Sechler. “Transparency means nothing if you’re only showing the best 1% of your business like many producers do. Most of the premium and organic chicken brands on shelves today are owned by the big commodity producers. They can’t give consumers full transparency into their operations because they have so many different practices taking place.”
One Bell & Evans Facebook fan wrote, “I choose very carefully where our meats are sourced from. I believe strongly that animals, even those being raised in the food supply should be well cared for and humanely treated as they are living critters. In my house we only buy Bell and Evans chicken as I love how your farm operates, and how accessible you are online. You share videos, explaining some of the hows and whys of your industry, you respond to comments… you guys are just doing it right, and I hope that never changes.”
Bell & Evans pioneered the natural chicken movement 20 years ago when it was the first producer to raise 100% of its flocks without antibiotics (RWA). Since then, Bell & Evans has strengthened its brand through continuous innovations, many firsts in the industry, transparency and a focus on humane animal welfare practices.
