Fredericksburg, PA – September 25, 2012 — Bell & Evans brought its staunch support of family farms to Hersheypark Stadium on Saturday as the only local sponsor of this year’s Farm Aid concert.
This year marked Farm Aid’s 27th year supporting family farms. The event drew more than 30,000 spectators from across the northeast. Bell & Evans not only treated concert performers to its Excellent Chicken, the Fredericksburg-based all-natural poultry producer supplied organic chicken for Farm Aid vendors Chipotle and Brickers.
The nation’s leading producer of chickens raised without antibiotics, Bell & Evans is part of a network of family-owned companies – including growers, hatchery operators and feed producers.
Family-owned since the 1890s, Bell & Evans is one of the largest food suppliers in Central Pennsylvania, with 1,200 employees supporting more than 150 family farms.
“We’ve never had anything like this in this area,” said Bell & Evans owner Scott Sechler. “It’s great for the local economy, and it draws attention to what happens in real farm life, and to eating organic.”
