Fredericksburg, PA 7/7/00: Bell & Evans, headquartered in Fredericksburg, Lebanon County and a leading producer of premium poultry, will be donating over 3,000 pounds of chicken for the National Governor’s Association meeting in State College, Pennsylvania.
In an effort to assist Governor Tom Ridge and Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture, Sam Hayes, in showcasing Pennsylvania’s agribusiness, Bell & Evans has agreed to provide their all-natural, no antibiotic administered chicken for the governors and their families. The meals served to the nation’s governors will feature “the cuisine of the Commonwealth.” The governors and their families will be treated to products that have been donated by some of the finest companies in the state.
Established in the 1890’s, Bell & Evans has become the leading producer of all-natural poultry for the natural foods industry. Their chickens are fed an all-vegetable diet and are shipped fresh, never frozen, to white tablecloth restaurants, natural food stores, upscale butcher shops and finer supermarkets.
Earlier this year, Bell & Evans doubled the size of their Fredericksburg processing facility, bringing all quality control testing in-house to insure they exceed government testing requirements at the hatcheries, feed mills and their USDA-inspected processing plant.
Bell & Evans poultry has been recognized for its excellence by readers in taste tests conducted by publications such as: Cooks Illustrated, The New York Times, Washingtonian, The Boston Globe and Consumer Reports.
